Ladies

Gowns for My Ladies of the Court

This category is actually quite vast.  Styles changed drastically from the beginning of the medieval (late 1400 to early 1500) through to the end of the renaissance.  They also varied by country.  Most of the garb appearing here is from Europe, and reflects the styles from England, France and Germany with a few Spanish and Italian pieces.  This is not to say that there was not clothing in other countries on other continents – it is just that this area is the one most favored by period re-enactors.

Yellow and Black Lady’s Court Gown

This Yellow Court gown was designed for the early 1500s Elizabethan era.

NOTE:  This gown is not for sale.  It is shown for demonstration only and as an example of our work.  However if you would like one similar to it, contact us with your color choices, where you live, and we’ll send you a measurement chart and fabric swatches to begin the process.  This gown is part of the Fantasy & Fun collection.

Gold and Burgundy Lady’s Court Gown

This again is in the Elizabethan style with a Farthingale (sold separately)

Elizabethan Court Gown

This gown comes with:

  • Chemise
  • Bloomers
  • Under Skirt
  • Over Skirt
  • Bodice
  • Sleeves

The sleeves on this gown are detachable, but only for ease of dressing. They are open on the front with three ties to keep them closed. You would wear them closed as you see in this picture or open the center one and stick your arm through if you were too warm.

This gown is actually high quality enough to be considered for a Princess or even Queen, although not Elizabeth, hers was much more elaborate.  Queens of smaller countries usually were not up to the high standards of the English or the French courts – mostly due to the extreme expense.

All of the dresses shown here can be made in numerous different types of fabrics and colors.  Your choices should be made in part upon where you live due to the weather in which you will be wearing them.

Period clothing was made originally for the colder climates of Europe, but we have experimented with many types of fabrics that look denser than they are, which makes them suitable for this type of clothing that can be worn in warmer climates.

If you have something in mind, or need help deciding what to make go to the Contact Page and send us a message so we may begin the process.  Keep in mind that some period clothing, such as the two court gowns shown above take many weeks to build.  So, get started Now.   Send us with your color choices, where you live, and we’ll send you a measurement chart and fabric swatches to begin the process.
